What's it all about? This blog has two distinct threads. The first offers my view of autism, based both on my experience of working with people with ASD and on the research that I have done for my books.
An arch-sceptic I tend not to take things at face value - preferring, whenever time and finances permit, to read or observe things for myself: something which has led me to disagree with some of the perceived wisdom on the subject. Like many others I still have a great deal to learn and so this thread contains various thoughts on the sensory & other problems which affect so many people, as well as posing some of the questions that still puzzle me.
The second thread is made up from a poem - Tales from Christopher’s Castle - originally written to introduce children to some ofthe problems their siblings or peers may face. Unfortunately Kate, who has illustrated most of my books, is unable to help in this venture so many of the verses are in dire need of a cartoonist – any offers?
Sadly nowadays, a great deal of controversy surrounds autism, and I am well aware that there will be many readers who do not share my views. Even so, I welcome both comment and debate, but would ask you to refrain from posting comments which others might find offensive.Thank you.
